Carbon Monoxide Alarm Test (Warning! This is very loud!)
This is a Kidde Carbon Monoxide alarm in my basement. It’s powered by three AA batteries. It has an 85 dB sounder that sounds the T4 code. The model is KN-COB-B.
kidde carbon monoxide alarm won't stop beeping and i have taken it to fresh air?
i was cooking and my alarm started going off. noticed it had gotten wet on the bottom, took it and went outside—sat outside with it for a while and it still kept going off. i removed the batteries, reset it, even drove around with it. still going off—does anyone have any experience with this?
Replacing Batteries & Testing Smoke Alarms/Testing Carbon Monoxide Alarms
Today we switch clocks so do you know what that means? Time to change batteries in our Smoke Alarms.
Smoke alarm won't stop beeping?
We just recently installed a new light fixture in our house, and we had to turn off a breaker to do it… unfortunately, it was the same breaker as the smoke alarms, and now they’re all going haywire. I have two Kidde KN-COSM-IB combo smoke/carbon monoxide detectors that are three years old. At first they were just beeping every minute or so, so I tried to reset them by turning the power back off and taking out the batteries for a few minutes, but now they’re beeping and saying "low battery." So I replaced all the batteries. Still beeping every 20 seconds telling me the batteries are low. Any idea how to get this to stop? Otherwise I’m going to disconnect them and remove the batteries so my ears stop ringing!
Sorry, I wasn’t clear… they kept beeping the entire time the breaker was off, but even now that I’ve reconnected it it’s happening. I’ve changed the batteries twice with no luck…
We actually went to the store and got a new set of batteries, and after we installed those and reset the breaker, it’s been quiet. I guess I was just unlucky with two sets of bad batteries! Regardless, I’m just glad that it’s stopped… the light fixture is working without any problems and the smoke/carbon monoxide detectors are testing normal. Thanks everyone for your help!

My carbon monoxide detector keeps going off, why?
This detector is about 12 years old. The brand is a Kidde Carbon Monoxide Alarm. Well about a week ago it just randomly went off. I changed the batteries, and about an hour later it went off again. Not me nor my parents felt any symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning but we opened all my windows and I shut off the hot water heater thats right across the hall from the detector just to be safe. We just thought its the detector messing up because its so old but we dont know for sure. Anyways the next day after it went off we turned the hot water heater back on and the detector didnt go off untill today which has been a week since it last went off. But we have a newer detector that plugs into the wall right underneath the old one and it hasnt went off. So is the older detector just too old or should I call the fire department! And also has anyone else had trouble like this with their carbon monoxide detector.

Why do my non-battery powered smoke alarms hiss when the power is out?
In my house I have one Universal CD-9795 smoke/carbon monoxide alarm which has a (new) 9V battery in it and a few Kidde 1235 smoke alarms which don’t have batteries. Whenever the power goes out the Kidde alarms whine/hiss/scream in long tone for a while. Sometimes it last only minutes, sometimes on and off for hours. Why is this? Is the Universal alarm sending a signal to the other that makes them whine? This is very annoying when the power goes out over night.
Also the house is less than two years old and so are the alarms.
From the Kidde manual "models
without battery backup, (1235, 120X, SL177I) be advised that the models without battery backup will not respond during an AC power failure." So this confirms that they do not have any battery at all. So why do they howl? Hmm.
The manual can be seen here: http://dl.owneriq.net/a/ab9bb989-180d-4aea-abfb-1973932f410b.pdf
The Universal detector has a new battery and its manual can be seen at the following link. Still no idea why the others make that noise.

Kidde Smoke Detector Beeps 3 times twice?
We have an inter-connected system made up of Kidde i12040s (made in or before 2003). We’ve never had trouble with any of them, and they’re tested regularly. This morning, my family and I were awoken by our smoke detectors. It wasn’t the familiar rapid-beep, but rather a fire alarm-like "code 3" that happened twice and then nothing more. "Beep-Beep-Beep-A few seconds of pause-Beep-Beep-Beep."
We are trying to determine if it was our security system, but that seems to be normal and we have not received a call from the security company. I believe it was the result of a smoke detector because in one room the usually solid green LED is blinking now. The other 5 of 6 alarms are normal. Our smoke detectors are not connected to the security system.
We’ve had low battery warnings before but it was not like what happened this morning, so I do not believe it was a battery warning. Those are localized and a quick beep.
Could it be possible that it’s the result of a power surge? The reason I’m throwing that out there is because I turned on a 3-bulb fixture in the room with the blinking green LED had one bulb burn out when I turned it on.
Sorry for the long description, but it’s a situation that requires a lot of explaining. If anyone is familiar with this situation or has experienced it, please let me know what you did. We’re going to replace batteries in all units.

My CO alarm is beeping 1 quick beep every 10 – 30 minutes. What does this mean?
It began doing this today. I just changed the batteries and it has happened at least 3 more times since then. It’s just one quick beep. The active light flashes green once every 30 seconds which indicates normal operating condition. I can’t find any information on the Kidde web site regarding this beeping.
